Accurate translation of spy movies plays an important role to facilitate this goal for their beneficiaries (West, 2012). Examination of the works that have been conducted by researchers revealed that many of these works were produced and designed by former intelligence officers to the point that they were enough technical not to be commonly used in spy movies (Priest, 2000; Burton, 2004; Turner, 2005; Bufalo, 2006; Trenea-Harvey, 2009; West, 2005, 2006, 2012; Ernest, 2012). Most importantly, none of the works has been conducted by translators to sparkle rays of hope for solving their current problem. This gap was spotted wide open that intrigued the researcher to take some innovative steps to provide a practical tool for his fellow coworkers. In this project, efforts have been made to develop cinematic glossary of intelligence services for movie translators. This glossary is built up based on the errors Iranian movie translators have made while translating spy movies. The data of this glossary were obtained from the translated screen plays of 10 intelligence movies. In the second phase, the prepared glossary was analyzed in terms of one-to-one equivalence in English and Persian. Then the translations were examined to identify the strategies the translators employed to translate the words or expressions that lacked one-to-one equivalence. In the last phase of the study, translators were assigned with a translation task regarding these types of movies. The translators had to do the translation task without having the proposed glossary, with an interval of one month the same translation task was given to the same translators, this time with the glossary. The findings revealed that 92% of the English terms of the proposed glossary had one-to-one correspondence in Persian and in case of lacking one to one equivalence. The movie translators would resort to several strategies like explanations, deletions, and generalizations. The study showed the difference between their translation scores of participants was statistically significant in the pretest and posttest. The findings showed that translation speed increased in the posttest implying that the glossary had its own share in the swiftness of the translation process which was also proved by a t-test. The study, further, indicated that the glossary was successful in its anticipation of translators` errors to a great extent.
